Paddling Commands


PADDLES UP		Paddles above the water ready to take a stroke

EASY ALL		Paddling stops and the boat coasts to a stop on its own

FEATHER THE BOAT or BRACE THE BOAT		Rest the shaft of your paddle on the gunwale and the blade flat on the water to give the boat extra stability (e.g. when switching sides on the water)

BACK PADDLE		Paddle in reverse

DRAW LEFT or DRAW RIGHT		Paddle to the side to provide directional thrust

HOLD THE BOAT		Blades in the water to stop the boat

ATTENTION PLEASE		During a race start, blades in the water (on wet start) or paddles up ready to stroke

GO		Start paddling for a race start
