Naples In Holiday Spirit
During Well-Lit Weekend

Naples is filled with the holiday spirit and it showed this past weekend with the annual boat parade and the many homes all aglow and decorated.

Naples Improvement Association members were tasked with selecting the best of the best on the water and on land. The following is their choices.

Winning the small boat parade through Naples canals were Cerritos Bahia Yacht Club (entry #24), Grand Prize; Morry’s of Naples (#5), Best Theme; Bryan Aanot (#26), Best Use of Lights; Vivian Gosnell and Juliet Tomac (#50), Most Original; John and Nanette Brodie (#44), Best Costumes; and AeroDragons (#29), Best Dragon Boat.

In the large boat parade, Rick Hittinger’s boat (#103) won for most original; Drew Miser (#3) won best theme; Stan Lawrence (#2) received the award for best use of lights; and Larry and Peggy Weaver (#10) had the best music.

Fifteen homes and three blocks were honored with awards in the 2005 home decorating contest. Winning the sweepstakes award were Noreen and Nuch Trutanich at 175 Rivo Alto Canal. Contest judges said the Trutaniches did a good job of incorporating the theme (Naples Centennial Celebration) and animation in an original design.

Other winners included perennial favorite roller coaster house, Myron and Fern Poe (202 Rivo Alto Canal), animation; L. Katell, T. Law and P. Saylor (5558 Naples Canal), award of excellence; Michelle and John Molina (5668 Naples Canal), award of merit; Pat Pratt (127 Rivo Alto Canal), beauty; Patti & Emmett Clark (183 Rivo Alto Canal), craftsmanship; Lynn Gestner (212 Rivo Alto Canal), design; Bill Williams (5952 E. Appian Way), humor; Joyce Feldman (58 Rivo Alto Canal), newcombers award; Patty and Bill Davis (5978 E. Appian Way), originality; Debbie Chastian (270 Tivoli Dr.), patriotic; Linda Hartley and the Berkey Girls (67 Via Di Roma), theme; Nancy and Jack Huntington (188 Rivo Alto Canal), use of lights; Janie and Howard Davis (93 Vista del Golfo), window display; Sharon and Jerry Civalleri (130 Rivo Alto Canal), yard display.

Block award went to the homeowners from 167 to 183 Rivo Alto Canal (for excellence), 30 to 83 Corinthian Walk (theme), and 5928 to 5952 E. Appian Way (lights).

Business winners were Susie Atwood/State Farm, 5624 E. Second Street (for excellence), Ken Kassady’s Pygmalion Salon, 5740 E. Second St. (originality), and Clare Dellemann/Edward Jones, 5538 E. Second St. (theme).
