AERODRAGON LAS VEGAS HIGHLIGHTS

"Ditto to a lot of what's already been said --- I loved winning AND ---
--Getting lost on the way to race via scenic Lake Mead (thanks Fred for the $5 drive thru fee)
--Getting lost on the way to sushi (how did 5 cars caravanning ever stay together?
--Getting lost on the way from sushi to hotel (thanks Jesse for being the DD)
--Gorging myself with not just one, but two steak/egg breakfasts on both Sat and Sunday, not to mention the all-you-can-eat pancakes, too!
--Gorging on all-you-can-eat sushi
--Learning to play high rolling nickel slot poker (thanks Damon). I spent $2.50 and won $2.50!
--A side trip to Hoover Dam and six hour dives both coming and going to Vegas (thanks Bill and Shelley for driving me!"
"--Getting lost on the way to the hotel, I took a 3-hour detour
--Getting lost on the way to the race, we stopped at a place that reminded me of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"
--Burning my feet on the concrete float (where the life vests were located)
--Pancakes Pancakes Pancakes
--Seeing the gang at the Casino
--Racing at such a beautiful place, the view is gonna be tough to beat
--Last, but not least, my girl Julie burnt to a crisp! I brought home a lobster!"
"--Can't believe Hien can eat that much food, she's stiff competition for Lorie . . . and where does all that food go . . .
--The scenic route we took back from the opening ceremony to the hotel . . . courtesy of Sgt. Mann
--The race site was the best yet . . . let's go back there and hopefully stay at the resort!!
--All the crab you can eat for 12 bucks :)
--$3.99 steak and eggs with unlimited pancakes . . . maybe this is the reason we did a 2 min 20 sec race in the first heat!!
--Didn't know that Rebecca is a KG, thought she belonged to AeroDragons . . . she is really a nice person
--Paddling in the back of the boat is fun too . . . thanks coach!!
--Mary is a fantastic organizer but I already knew that I work with her
--Jesse rocks . . . got great rates at the hotel . . . you think you could get us that rate at Lake Las Vegas?
--Thanks to all for making the trip fun  . . . the thrill of VICTORY!!"
"Hey AeroDragons! You guys ROCK! Thank you very much for letting me be part of your team even though I didn't know your calls. I hope I didn't mess you up too much. Now for my favorite moment. . .Good Grief! The entire weekend was great - I can't choose just one. However, after reading some of the other comments, I must agree with them regarding "Squirrel Speed". After the very first race, my very FIRST comment to Lorie was "WOW, you guys have really increased your stroke rate!" Here's a list of things I learned on this trip:
--Now I know why Jesse was so hesitant to take the glass of champagne from Henry. I didn't know he was given a "turbo" drink earlier by his thoughtful buddies.
--Did you know that Brad was Japanese? I didn't either - guess that makes us all cousins, right Judy? (Inside joke)
--I know to contact Henry if I want to know were to go to have FUN and a great dinner.
--Laughing is better exercise for strengthening the abdominals that doing sit-ups.
--Per Mary, apparently energy patches works best on your "bottom"
--Sit by Hien when eating crab legs - maybe she will feel sorry for you and shell them for you
--Gamble with Eric and Henry because they know all the games
--Mary is the most organized and patient Captain I have ever encountered
--Dee is simply the BEST
The one thing I wish I could have done: I wished we made it to the bar that Alana said served those drinks with flames and stuff. Make sure to ask her to give a demonstration. Aloha, TK"
"Thanks to all for making this a great experience, including our KG friends...you guys were great thanks for the help...We definitely kicked some DB @$$%#@!!! I'm especially relieved at not having to do 1000 push-ups (per CJ) Highlights:
--FLAT TIRE!!!Brad, Alana, Chop I still owe you guys that round of drinks on me!
--Brad's before race day "turpentine" toast
--Someone please keep Lorie away from those Carbon Fibers!!! SQUIRREL SPEED RULZ!!! LOL ;-D
--Mary trying to walk away with that dragon trophy ;-P
--Yes, the Damon interview
--PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH DOUBLE ENGINE BOOST PUSH
--the looks on Space Dragons faces. . .
"Thank you AeroDragons! This was a great experience on and off the water. I had a terrific time. It was a real pleasure fighting alongside your team - how about that close win against Space Dragons in the finals!!! I spend so much time in Long Beach practicing I don't really get the chance to know the other teams, so this was a nice opportunity to meet and find out about you guys. Thanks again. And thank you Mary for organizing and keeping track of everything - great job! Thanks to Jesse for taking care of the hotel information. Let me concur with Damon - thank you TK! Finally, thanks to Dee for all his leadership.

If I may put in my two cents, for Favorite moments I would need to say Damon (Master Blaster) laying down the "verbiage" for the Channel Eight News, and Dee getting "gun-shy" when Damon called him over. Hey Damon - thanks for not pulling a Joe Namath - she was cute. Its that moment or the final race against Space Dragons and UCLA - I love it when a team can come together to win a close race. Take care AeroDragons, and I'll see you all in Long Beach.
- Talal KG

Just wanted to add on a special thanks to TK for being such an inspirational caller....."COME ON HENRY!!"

And another thanks to the pacers for inventing a new paddling speed..."Squirrel Speed"!

HIGHLIGHTS: Among the many, Jesse repeating Dee's calls - PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH - so Damon thinks he has to paddle twice as fast, hence the invention of "SQUIRREL SPEED" (see video). Hien cracking crab legs at the buffet at a stroke rate of 60 legs per minute. Eric, Hien, Shelly and Lorie being carded constantly in the casino. TK aka "PADDLE SLUT" trying to scam musubi from a team of Hawaiians. Talal and the Winnipeg women (yes, we saw them Talal . . .) TK's inspirational calling, "COME ON, HENRY". Lorie's paddling too fast (it was the Burnwater paddle's fault!). Alex, Bill & Jessie dressed as women . . .? Alana quit her job to be with us (and to fly to Norway to visit her fiancé). Henry's directions to Damon to Makino Sushi Buffet - "Use your intuition, Damon". Jesse's FLAT TIRE. From TK about 1/2 hour into the trip back to LA - "I think I forgot the trophy in my hotel room . . ." and BEATING SPACE DRAGONS, even with the 250 lb. steersman on our boat!

THANKS to the whole Las Vegas crew for your enthusiasm and energy (especially the guys doing 6 races in one day!). Special thanks to Jesse for finding the Railroad Pass Casino for us and "handling" our reservations, to TK, Talal, David & Rebecca for helping us out, the UCLA men for helping us out, to Mike for loaning us the pop-up tent and TK, to our cheerleaders/picture-takers: Shelly, Julie, Allita, Pat and especially Lani, and as always, to Coach Dee for getting us this far!
