Hey Guys ---
SUNDAY CREW --- EXCELLENT JOB AT PRACTICE! - Coach was impressed with our performance as a TEAM. Wish we could've said the same for SAT'S practice . . . same crew (pretty much) . . . same boat, but dramatically different results!
We all need to determine what WE can do to ensure we work TOGETHER as ONE TEAM whether it be concentrating on our LAND TRAINING, building up our ENDURANCE, making sure we show up on time for WARM-UP, FOCUSING when we're on the boat, etc. If you need help or clarification on anything feel free to contact me or Coach!
MANDATORY SAT PRACTICE FOR LAS VEGAS CREW this SAT (it would be nice to see you on SUN too). NEED you all there - we'll be VIDEOTAPING our practice to see where we can improve!
WORD OF THE WEEK - ROTATE!
LAND TRAINING --- Coach says bring down your reps to 3 sets of 60 at 4X/week.
PRACTICE SAT/SUN --- PLEASE RSVP for SAT/SUN practice, make sure you arrive PROMPTLY at 9:30AM SAT and/or 8:30AM SUN for warm-up.
REMEMBER in case of rain/sewage spill or other extenuating circumstance, find out status of practice by calling my cell phone at (310) 749-3592 after 8:00 AM on day of practice for a recorded message . . .
EAT YO'SELF SOMETHIN' in the morning before you come to practice (think bananas, energy bars, carbs/protein, etc..). Your body needs food to produce energy to paddle. We don't want you to get sick while out on the water. Also, bring water or Gatorade to hydrate yourself while paddling.

Hey Guys ---
WAY TO GO DEBS who ran in the CATALINA MARATHON and to FRED who ran in the L.A. MARATHON. Also GOOD JOB AeroDragons who helped out Killer Guppies in AZ this weekend - now you can forget that Guppy stroke (Guppy-Aero pic up on the website).
WE ARE 4 WEEKENDS AWAY from Las Vegas. We have formidable competition: our friends Ripple Effect from San Francisco and TD Lightning from Vancouver. Space Dragons, Thunder Dragons and UCLA are also at our heels. A reminder that in addition to MANDATORY SAT practices (and 2 SUN's) --- you need to take LAND TRAINING seriously. Coach will be more demanding the next few weeks. You need to be PHYSICALLY FIT for the drills to prevent injuries. PLEASE DO YOUR LAND TRAINING.
It is also important that we practice TOGETHER AS A TEAM. Coach and I need you to show up so we can determine what will work best for us as a WHOLE in terms of balancing the boat, stroke rate, strategy, differing abilities, etc. and if we want to keep that 1st Place trophy, we need your PRACTICE ATTENDANCE to be consistent: PLEASE EVERYBODY --- WE NEED YOU TO BE ON THE BOAT, FOCUSED AND READY TO WORK!
IF YOU'RE UNABLE TO ATTEND MANDATORY SAT' OR 2 OF THE SUNDAYS contact Coach or myself with the reason why you can't make practice - attendance is one of the considerations used to determine paddler selection during races.

Hey Guys ---
GREAT JOB to AeroDragons who survived the Killer Guppy practices this weekend. We promise we won't get injured or pick up any bad habits! Wish us luck - we'll bring back GOLD (or hopefully some kind of metal or maybe at least some brownies ;-) )
CONGRATULATIONS TO Hien & Mike on their new baby boy AeroDragon Samuel and to Cassandra Jenkins who is now Mrs. Mike Wilson as of last Friday!
MANDATORY SAT practices start THIS SAT for Las Vegas crew.
LAND TRAINING --- Coach says bump up your 3 sets to 70 this week (3X/week). NEXT WEEK starts 4X/week in preparation for Vegas.
SURVEY RESULTS so far: Only 20 of you out of 39 have responded. It looks like we have majority votes for:
1. LB HS/College/Local Team Race
2. LB Dragon Boat Festival
3. Hawaii Dragon Boat Festival
4. San Francisco Dragon Boat Festival
I show only 5 people each voting for Vancouver and China/Asia. It looks like we will NOT be going to Vancouver at this point (unless the remaining 19 people who haven't voted can swing the attendance up). VOTE IF YOU HAVEN'T! The results are here:

LAND TRAINING --- Coach says maintain 3 sets of 60 this week (3X/week). LOTS OF STRETCHING AND LOTS OF LEG EXERCISES!! Try to incorporate weights. Newbies bump up to 3 sets of 40.

Guys ---
Killer Guppies want to race again (500m) this SAT.
Lorie, Daniel, Damon, Wil, Joannza, Billy, Allita, Eric and Mary--- those AeroDragons that are going to be racing with Guppies in AZ, we will be paddling with the Guppies for this race.
So, please try and make it for SAT practice!

COACH wants to emphasize the importance of doing your land training . . . in order to prevent/minimize injuries and become stronger you need to maintain your workout routine 3X a week . . . Las Vegas is fast approaching!
