RACE WITH GUPPIES AROUND THE ISLAND THIS SAT 2/18.
ANOTHER REASON TO RSVP - if practice is cancelled for any reason, only those who responded to the Evite as "Attending" or "Undecided" will be called, otherwise contact my cell phone # for updates!

LAND TRAINING --- Coach says bump up to 3 sets of 60: push ups, sit ups and squats this week (3X/week). LOTS OF STRETCHING AND LOTS OF LEG EXERCISES!! Newbies bump up to 3 sets of 30.
SAT & SUN DRAGON BOAT RACE/PRACTICE --- PLEASE RSVP if you're coming to SAT/SUN practice, make sure you arrive PROMPTLY at 9:30A SAT or 8:30AM SUN for warm-up.
NOTE: COACH SAYS these are TWO-hour practices - please make sure you try to STAY for the entire TWO hour practice!
COMMUNITY RELATIONS - in the future, please try to park in either the metered parking OR the Boy Scouts parking lot (south side of the 2nd St. Bridge). Do NOT park on Appian way if at all possible.
REMINDER: Eat something in the morning before you come to practice (think bananas, energy bars, carbs/protein, etc.). Your body needs food to produce energy to paddle. We don't want you to get sick while out on the water. Also, bring water or Gatorade to hydrate yourself while paddling.

Hey AeroDragons ---
COACH SAYS, "Hi crew, thanks for your patience and eagerness --- great workout this weekend, keep up your land workout. If you are just getting started for the season this (below) is your MINIMUM to help you on the boat. The REST OF YOU, we are up to 50 REPS with our new strokes. You'll also need extra leg work and flexibility with your land training. The workout we're doing on the water is hard & IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET HARDER - so land traing's very important to avoid injuries. I'm conducting practices with the assumption that EVERYONE on the boat EXCEPT FOR THE NEWBIES is doing his/her land workout during the week.

Thanks to those of you who marched in the parade! Some pics are up on the web (Vince had my camera for awhile - and no, I don't have a thing for beauty queens) --- send me your pics to post!
SAVE THE DATE - Dr. Chen's having a barbecue for all the teams who participated in the parade on SUN 2/19 at 12P after practice --- next to Marine Stadium (where we had the last barbecue). . .

SAVE ANOTHER DATE! SUN 5/14 (Mother's Day) Long Beach High School/College (and LOCAL TEAM) races. This is our "dress rehearsal" for the Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival.

Hey AeroDragons ---
GREAT JOB SAT CREW against Guppies --- YOU GUYS ROCK . . . FYI - we won 2 of the 250m races AND the 500m race --- with only 14 paddlers, 4 of them newbies (Guppies had a full boat with mostly veterans . . .) Will try to get the video up this week under the "AeroDragons Only" section - e-mail me if you don't know the password . . .
NO PRACTICE SAT - AeroDragons are at the Chinatown Golden Dragon Parade. Meet at the staging area at Broadway & Cesar Chavez Blvd.--- look for the 2 3/4-scale dragon boats.
PARADE REMINDERS - Wear your team jersey and black pants or shorts AND WHITE SHOES. Dr. Chen is providing paddles - no need to bring one.
PRACTICE SUPER BOWL SUN --- PLEASE RSVP if you're coming to SUN practice, make sure you arrive PROMPTLY 8:30AM SUN for warm-up.
