With the Taipei and Three Gorges Dam Races taking place in June (the weeks before and during Alcan), some of us will be going to China and it looks like we will not be able to field a full team to Vancouver, even if we teamed with Space Dragons.

In lieu of Vancouver, we are now planning to compete at the Lake Las Vegas Dragon Boat Tournament on Fri & Sat, April 22 & 23rd (in approximately 3 weeks!)

We are looking into lodging right now - will let you know what the costs would be. You would also need to take care of your own transportation to & from Las Vegas and meals once there. I'm not sure if we have a host team yet --- I'll let you know . . .

In the meantime, I'd like to get an idea if you all are up for a Las Vegas race --- please let me know ASAP if you would like to paddle for this one! THIS IS A FRIDAY & SATURDAY RACE --- which means you will have to leave Thursday to paddle Friday.

AeroDragons combined with BAD (Bay Area Dragons) over the weekend to take GOLD in both the Men's and Women's Finals at Arizona over the weekend. We placed 7th in the 250m sprint (out of 20 teams).

Highlights (we won't name names): a visit to one of our paddlers from a "ghost lover", beating Killer Guppies in our finals consolation heat, one of the officials "flirting" with a certain steersman (only the back of the boat noticed this . . .), a brownie fight with LARD, the aggressive bidding for Taipei Team-wear (one of our paddlers came away with almost a whole uniform) . . .

Please send me your pics if you have them (or give them to me on CD/disk on SAT) for our website . . . pics from the ladies' races are the only ones I have online (thanks Jesse!). Race results are also online.

THANK YOU'S to Mike for his expert steering (especially with Sunday's windy conditions), Janet & Danny for stepping in to help us on short notice, Wila for organizing our Men's/Women's teams and to the whole AZ crew for an OUTSTANDING performance - our overall best time was 2:31.37 (a far cry from the 2:49:93 we pulled at our first ever race last year in Long Beach)

PRACTICE THIS SAT/1st PRACTICE FOR MASTERS TEAM ON SUNDAY

Coach Dee says we now have LOTS of FUN THINGS TO WORK ON to improve our performance! Back to practice this SAT at 9:30A.

PLEASE RSVP FOR THE DAY YOU'RE COMING and make sure you arrive PROMPTLY at 9:30 SAT or 8:30 SUN for warm-up. There is also a MASTERS TEAM PRACTICE on Sunday at 8:30AM for those of you 40+ folks that can make it . . .

Lunch at Braddah's in Gardena after practice anyone? (Hawaiian food)

REMINDER: Make sure you have something to eat in the morning before you come to practice (think bananas, energy bars, carbs/protein, etc..), Your body needs food to produce energy to paddle. We don't want you to get sick while out on the water. Also, bring water or Gatorade to hydrate yourself while paddling.

Have a great week and see you on Saturday!
